HOW DOES SWIFT PRO TREATMENT WORK?
Swift Pro is an advanced treatment for verrucae that uses targeted microwave energy to stimulate the body’s natural immune response. Verrucae are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which can persist because the immune system does not always recognise the infected tissue as a problem. Swift Pro works by helping the immune system identify and clear the virus more effectively.
During treatment, a handheld probe delivers a precise, controlled dose of microwave energy directly into the verruca. As the microwaves travel into the tissue, they cause water molecules within the cells to rapidly move and collide, creating a localised rise in temperature. This process happens over just a few seconds and is carefully controlled to avoid damaging surrounding skin.
The rapid, localised heating creates a targeted cellular response within the verruca tissue. This does not burn the skin or create a wound, but instead causes controlled cellular stress that triggers a healing cascade. As a result, the body is alerted to the presence of the virus, activating the immune system to target and clear the infected tissue.

Swift treatment
If Swift is deemed appropriate. The Swift Pro probe is applied to the verruca and a short burst of microwave energy is transmitted to the virus for 1-2 seconds, this is then repeated approximately five to ten times per treatment site.
Aftercare
Typically there are no dressings, no restrictions and no open wounds. You can walk, shower and resume activities immediately after the treatment.
Review and follow-up plan
Most patients require a course of three to four Swift Pro sessions spaced four weeks apart. Depending on the size and age of the verruca, more treatments may be required. We will review the area again around twelve weeks after your final planned Swift Pro treatment to assess the response and guide any further management if required.
