Specialist Podiatrist

Joanna has over a decade of experience as a Podiatrist with specialism in musculoskeletal care. She has continued to expand her knowledge and skill set and has gained prestigious qualifications. This enables her to expertly support patients through their foot health journey and provide them with the best treatment options.

She is committed to building strong colleague and patient relationships. Her main motivation is to see patients are happy with their service and to keep their goals at the centre of their care.
Joanna works closely with a wide variety of health care providers to optimise patient goals and to get them back to the activities that they love as quickly as she can. She achieves this by making each contact count and tailored to the individual.

She believes in listening to her patients concerns and having a clear discussion of findings, in order to provide them with personalised treatment options and help guide them through their decision-making process.

Some questions we asked Joanna!

What inspired you to get into this field of work?

As a junior I represented Scotland playing squash which took me all round the world. I was fortunate to have national level funding and access to a wealth of support for developing athletes including strength and conditioning, nutrition and sports psychology. The intensity of training meant I was subject to injuries, some of which affected my feet. This is when I first met a Podiatrist who assessed me, understood my condition and my goals maintaining high level sport. They made me orthotics and strapped my ankles which I found fascinating. This then led to some time shadowing practice in their clinics and the rest they say, is history.

How do you keep active?

Variety is key for me. I love a mixture of outdoor and indoor activities. I have been involved in multi day ultra hikes but also enjoy the gym and have been involved in Olympic weight training. Recently I have taken up sport fencing (Foil) which I am really enjoying and will regularly attempt a kickabout of a football with friends.

What do you do outside of work?

When I’m not in work you can find me attending gigs and music festivals up and down the country. I am a keen musician and enjoy being part of the community through my involvement in amateur dramatics.

Being Scottish, I find myself heading north to spend time with family and loved ones when I can too.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself?

I am part way through my helicopter private pilot licence training.
